Nihon Shoki Trilingual: Selections

Chinese·Kanbun·English

Twenty short passages from Nihon Shoki — generally known as The Chronicle (or Chronicles) of Japan — were selected and translated into English from the original classical Chinese (Kanbun) text. Topics include the beginning of heaven and earth, the eastern expedition of Emperor Jinmu, the coming to Japan, via Korea, of the Chinese classics and Buddhism, and the mutual visits of envoys between Japan and China in the early 7th century. The original text, as well as notes and index, are provided. Extent: 57 pages.
